Pimento Oil (Pimenta Dioica)

Pimento oil comes from the leaves and berries of an evergreen tree, Pimenta Dioica, native to Jamaica and the Caribbean Islands. The oil is extracted by steam distillation of its leaves and seeds. Besides giving that distinct flavor to many Jamaican foods, pimento (allspice) offers its antiseptic, antioxidant and antibacterial properties in the potent oil used for scalp and skin conditions. It's an effective hair thickener and also treats alopecia. Pimento oil, because of its warming effects, is often used to relieve chest infections, arthritis and muscle aches and pains.
